Anyone removed a boiler from one of these loco's and what does it entail. Is it easier to remove boiler and smokebox intact. Help please.

I havent dismantled one mself, but did see someone strip one down, some 20 or so years ago.
From memory, remove the blast nozzle, blower pipe, etc.
Then, depending upon how the rear of the boiler is secured, undo that. It is sometimes just rested on a piece of brass angle, but may be an arrangement that allows it to slide horizontally with expansion (as will / should any fixing), but holds it down. Also, remove all firebars and ash can.
Then the bolts holding the smokebox to the frame.
Then, and again this is from memory, the whole boiler + smokebox lifts off the chassis.

I should have included, remove all pipes and fittings.
Also, I am fairly sure that the once the turret is off, the boiler will slide forward to clear the cab roof, but removing the cab first may be easier.
Again, this is from 20 or so years ago, but the procedure is similar to most engines. In other words, I cant recall anything odd about Doris that makes it unusual to dismantle.
