Ordered the driving and driven wheels for DY's Black 5, so in preparation to receiving them I built a quartering jig, well almost, but the 39 deg C outside temperature, hotter in the tin shed drove me in early. Finish it tomorrow early, the forecast is 41 deg C. We are having a heat wave.

Well I am booked in with the GP this afternoon. I have a tight and painful chest which has all the markings of another bout of pneumonia. I don't think it is a heart problem as I have been pounding the cross trainer down the gym for several months without any issues.
This time I am getting it looked at early. By the time they saw me 4 years ago I had a collapsed lung and I was calmly and quietly accepting I was done for.
Pete.

"and I was calmly and quietly accepting I was done for."............Oh no you don't, matey !!..........not untill we ( your mates ) give you the "right away" and even then you'll have to book it so far in advance the Sun will have gone super-nova ages ago anyway !!!--LoL !!
Pete, just keep a watch on your daily habits ( type of food, milk, cheese etc) and exercise and keep in touch with your immediate neighbours in case you need help etc....

Pete, best wishes mate. Hope all goes well, better safe than sorry. Regards Paul Saw the Vet and she listened to my chest front and back. I can't hear any crackling she said so I don't want to treat something that may not be there. I think I am reassured by that! So no gym for a few days, I will do some planning on my son's house renovation. Having had it a few years ago I don't want to give it chance to develop again. Fingers crossed! Pete.

I don't mind drilling 0.8mm holes. I don't mind tapping 1mm threads. Picking up the screws and persuading them to go in the holes is another matter. Reg ew

This is for my brother's 5" gauge Britannia. The lost wax castings are available from Cro Fittings.

Looks great Reg...IMHO it's details like this that make a model.....Adam's fittings are superb and I hope to have plenty on 4472 when finished...

Reg ew I DO like that Reg----I'm not sure if they had those in 1908 on my Great Bear though ??........ .Picking up small screws ??}----Maybe a little bit of grease on the screwdriver blade ?? For those not aware of the Smiths speedo drive set-up}---- In use the whole unit stays in the position as seen....The heavy duty nature of the flexible outer cable casing keeps the drive box in position which must be in line with the wheel's centre.....The return crank is connected to an output shaft at the rear Here is Tornado's}---------------------

Hi Reg
For picking up small screws and nuts you need pearl grips, available quite cheaply from somewhere like Squires. Try and get the 4 jaw ones, they grip better than 3 jaw. I wouldn't be without mine in my O gauge work. 😉

I work over a Lin Bin when doing these assemblies, working on the assumption that I'm sure to drop something. That happens more often than not.

So Pearl grips and a lin bin.... I know what a lin bin looks like. What do pearl grips look like?
