Has anyone recently been in touch with or visited Bell Boilers? We sent them a letter a few months ago which we've had no acknowledgement of, and I've been ringing and ringing and ringing and getting no answer. I've left an answerphone message asking for him to call me, but nothing.

I can't fault the service from AJB, delivered on time to agreed price and approved at a higher working pressure than the design stated.

I didn't say that AJB was, I was pointing out that I had no trouble with AJB compared to Bell who can't be contacted and I have heard comments that the welding on Bell boilers was seen to be not of the best.

Regards Nigel No, we cancelled our order with Bell's some time ago. Sent a letter to confirm - because he doesn't have an email, it's 2015 for f*** sake - never got an acknowledgment from him, and it's took an eternity to get hold of him on the phone. We're going to have a new copper boiler built by Steam Technology.

Even if you are busy making whatever you still need customer service.
There is no place for totally ignoring your current or potential business otherwise the above comments become reality and you find yourself devoid of work. You can also say sorry we cannot accept your order due full production. Happens in big business too. If your not organised you miss out and boilers are not a five minute job as we all know.
Worse thing is a bad reputation aka Lynx Models. You just do not go there.
Seems there is plenty of choice of makers anyway.

Your kidding......even on the bottom side of the earth we know to steer clear of Lynx.
See they still advertise in M.E. There is one born every day as they say.
Is there a list anywhere of the certified boiler constructors (commercial CE ones) in Britian or Wales. It would be handy to know more than just the most popular three or four and even in the above writings I note a few I have not heard of before. Never know when you might need one :-)
The ones I have heard of are;
Maxitrak Western Steam Cheddar Bell TRS Welding for steel ones.
AJB ? John Rex ?

Steam Technology for TIG welded copper boilers
GB Boilers for silver soldered copper and I think he does welded steel too but I'm not sure on that one, just a rumour I heard

Southern boiler works are just absolutely superb. The silver soldering and flangework is brilliant, the price structure is reasonable and they aren't stingy with the silver solder. They also drill and tap every fixing hole ready to accept whatever it is that needs mounting. I've had two 7 1/4 boilers from them, both delivered on time and to cost. My midge boiler more or less fell into the frames and everything bolted on. Oh and he will answer the phone and email!
