Ive just been to see the charming film "Paddington 2". Not only does it feature a "steam fair", 2 full size steam locomotives, but the young Master Brown actually has a 5" gauge locomotive, in steam, in his bedroom on a rolling road that he has built (hes a clever lad). He proves what I have been telling the public for years, which is: If you can drive this (miniature engine), you should be able to work out how to drive the full size thing. Which he proves later on in the film when he gets to take control of a well known green locomotive. At the end of the film it is declared that people who like steam trains are "cool". Im undecided if this is a good or bad thing as I have never been cool and dont really wish to start now. But the film is great fun. Mike

A superb film , we took my son aged two to see it and for the first time in the cinema he was enthralled by the bear.
I have to admit I saw this thread title and got a little excited that someone else was building a 15xx like myself in 7.25 gauge

Hi Jonathon's loco is the one you see below my name and she is comfy under a red warm blanket in my workshop. 'She who must' drew the line at actually taking her into the bed to keep her warm, my dear little 990. And of course those who love Midland things are Cool! D

I suppose it’s a great message to teach that steam engines are “cool”. I certainly think they are!
I just love the scene where the dad does yoga, as he balances between the two moving trains!

Fascinating for a little while then a lot of standing around doing bugger all. Learnt one thing though. Why do they say WRAP as the end of a shoot. Comes from the very beinning, "Re wind and print" from the days of film. Will have 990 running soon at Southampton, we are giving autographes!!! D
