There are a number of good books concerning the Stirling Singles. Do you have L T C Rolt's book "Patrick Stirling's Locomotives", published in 1964? It is a "popular" rather than a hugely technical book but it has some very good close up photos of the details of No.1, lots of other photos and a reproduction of the General Arrangement for (I think) one of the slightly later versions.
There are several copies available on Abe Books for around 10 quid.
I think you are making a fine job of the painting - having just completed the painting of my loco, amid much trial and tribulation, I am deeply sympathetic and admiring!

Q Well no worries. First step is that you are a man of honour but would like the book but not as a scrounge. Since you are from Aberdeen a bottle of scotch would be a good exchange as no doubt you know where to find it. Give me a PM for your address and I will pop it in the post, the book that is. I will be at the Doncaster show 2019 so you may deliver my recompense then. Now do not tell Greenglade as he is on for a hundred dollars which we will share! I was going to tell him that I have a number of LNER/GN books that he might want to read or own but lets wait for the cash first!!!!! D

Midland,
That is a very very fair offer, I hope you like Strathspey whisky, and not the island stuff. I used to do a little professional work at McAllan as I used to live in the area for quite a few years, and developed a certain affinity to both McAllan and GlenFarclas - it’ll take me till Doncaster to get my hands on one down here with the heathen. However, I haven’t managed to get to Doncaster yet so that will be a bonus.
PM will be sent.
What a star you are, thank you.
