I remember when I first started looking at building a steam engine I was blown away by the amount of data spread thinly all over the internet. I managed to glean bits here and there but there wasn't any one place that held all the info. As a result I've started building a Wiki page covering as many locomotives as I can. Small Live Steam EnginesI intend to cover as many designs as possible, and for those not familiar with Wikis (I apologise to those who are), a Wiki is intended that anyone can edit it with salient information. Therefore although the pages are currently a little thin I am hoping that over time they will grow as those with relevant facts will add them and make a decent database. The page isn't a forum, it isn't for profit (I don't receive a penny and never will), its just intended to be a useful resource or interesting read. At the moment it is neither of those things, but if anyone fancies editing a page or two (its very simple I promise) or even adding new locomotives, please feel free to do so. I hope it helps people once its fattened up a bit.

Nice idea! I've added in Blowfly, and will add some others. I've also added categories for 'Beginners Locomotives' and 'Beginners Engines' which I think could be helpful for some.

A photo or outline drawing would be helpful for identification of model ?

I feel that the initial explanation page of how to add an entry and edit needs expansion with extremely simple 'step-by-step' guides.
Have finally managed to add a loco', with much cursing, as that step needed when editing (and possibly creating a new page) to click on enter and 'add' to the categories button after 'adding' the desired categories was not obvious to this non computer enthusiast. Still apparently stuck with photos of a fantastic B1(??) on the 'Combypne' entry (under 5 Gauge Locomotives) that I cannot remove! Maybe you can? Don't know how they got there as it is not my pic, possibly I magically added it in some way whilst faffing around but maybe at least one other person has issues with working the instructions with the site too!
Regards, Phil

I'm just reading up the pages people have added and I'm already being educated and entertained. Thank you.
I might dispense with the titles mentioning the gauge, if its included in the categories its rather redundant.

Just added 3 of my models that I am working on and improving!! Jinty and Class 2's. Plus photos. So many mistakes on stuff that gets copied year after year!
David and Lily.

Ah bum, that looks the sort of thing I was trying to achieve. Hopefully this will be an even better tool than that one. Thanks for pointing it out Steve, I'm sure I can harvest some useful info from it.

Funny as it couldn't find my loco by Don Young, I didn't try any others.. Nobby when I can I'll add 'Doncaster'... I did take a look but couldn't really understand what to do... such things are not my forte, that's for sure... Pete

No problem. If anyone wishes me to add anything just put the information on here and I'll transfer it over. Just a bit of background overview with any salient info, especially stuff that isn't typically online such as errors in the drawings if you found any!

There's a whole thread on this forum with corrections to drawings.

A quick recap; we now have around 60 locomotives of various types listed, some are fairly small entries, others very detailed, but all very welcome and interesting. Some people have added one or two things, others have made it their mission to research and add very detailed and interesting articles; I've lost quite a bit of time just reading up! I've fallen in love with Galatea in the process!
Many thanks to those who have been so instrumental in helping, and if you have information you would like to add about locomotives you are familiar with (did you build one and spot drawing errors? please let us know!) you would be very welcome.

Today I believe we hit the 100 locomotives mark (approximately, I'm estimating as best I can). Some of the entries are quite skeletal as I don't have some of the information needed, but its fleshing out in places. If anyone has anything they want to add but don't wish to edit the site themselves please feel free to add it here.
