I'll be going on the Friday too, so yes, let's get together again. I'll be expecting to see something you've made too!
I might be showing the Axle Weighbridge on a stand that's run by one of our club members selling educational electronic bits and pieces. Depending on the level of interest, that might result in a circuit board and kit of parts to interface up to 8 strain gauges to an Android phone app.

Hi Roger Plan is to drive up to Brum to see Keatly, non ferrous supplier, who apparently likes MEs and sells bronze at sensible prices rather than show prices, then collect coal from Signal and get to Doncaster for lunch. PM at the show and back home that evening. A long haul but with Simplyloco sharing the driving it should work. If you need some non ferrous, let me know and I will collect it! Will have to make something!!! Cheers David PS With no SF to worry about, can relax and enjoy lunch!!!

If you've never been to John Keatly before, its quite an experience, as an old established non ferrous supplier in a Birmingham back street, still selling what you want by weight. I first went to them with my father, in the 1960s to get copper for my Juliet and his Speedy. If you are careful, you park by the kerb not far from their door. You should also look in at Whites Ironmongery Store at 19-21 Summer Lane, only a couple of hundred yards from Keatleys, especially if you still need Whitworth fasteners. Keatleys sold me the copper for my current boiler at around a third of the price a well known model supplier wanted for a boiler set.

Hi Peter Maybury of Bromsgrove fame told me about them at last year's Fosse and I have to go there just to see the place. Will buy some brass and bronze of course, would be rude not to. And in fact if anyone wants some non ferrous, let me know I can bring it to Doncaster on the Friday!
Cheers David

Afternoon everybody.
Just printed off my ticket for the show.
Shall be there Friday, early doors, and will dine on sandwiches at precisely 12 o'clock midday upstairs in the cafe where some of us met last year.
Will be pleased to meet anybody from this forum.
I will attempt to bring something with me for the show and tell (but can't promise and certainly can't compete with Roger!)
regards
Malcolm

Well, it sounds like it's Friday for me too, then! If you're lucky I won't have distributed too much of what I am taking over with me. I'd be pleased to meet up with anyone else.

Warning, this Friday meeting could be viewed as a conspiracy so I suggest a secret signal. Remember the assembly rules are still effective. All you just say is your name is Roger, that should fox them. Yours in confidence, Secrete Agent Derby!

Friday for me too. I'd appreciate the secret meeting location and time being revealed? Only me allowed to read the reply though!

Can I suggest that we meet at 1pm to give everyone a chance to get there? Upstairs there's a seating area with various food outlets surrounding it. It does get busy, so last time I think David got there first and grabbed a couple of tables. Hopefully it will be obvious where we are if members have brought their wares and are passing them round for all to see.
By all means PM me if in doubt as to what we all look like, and I'll give you my mobile so I can guide you in.

SNIP A long haul but with Simplyloco sharing the driving it should work. Yes, I'll be at the Expo with David: walking in front of him whilst waving a Red flag! John

I phoned you and told you all the tables were filling up fast at 12 o'clock. Anyhow, I can't last until 1.00pm so will be there from about 12 onwards.
I will grab a couple of tables on the racecourse side of the cafe area (away from the fast food outlets) and look forwards to your eventual arrival.

I'll try to go on Friday as well. I wonder what the collective noun is for a gathering of model engineers ? Paul

We will need a table (or chairs) for at least ten people, probably more. Print our some 'VIP Reserved' cards, it might work..! I'll try to join you around 12.30.
Look forward to seeing everyone from last year and putting a face to some other famous (?) names...
