Never seen anyone attempt to create the heat pattern necessary to create the capillary flow essential to good brazed joints using carbon arc equipment.
It's impossible!
Carbon arc is a welding technique and welding is a totally different metal joining technique to brazing.
You can weld with oxy-acetylene and you can braze with it. The way you use it and the results are totally different.

I have used carbon arc with some success in brazing. You do need to get a larger area hot so it is not ideal for small jobs. I wonder if the confusion is with electrode arc welding. Carbon arc is using two carbon rods brought close together to create a plasma arc of high temperature to heat up the metal. You certainly could not weld with it as the temperature does not get high enough. I have one that is an attachment to my arc welding set and have used it for brazing thin steel sheet albeit some time ago. I would recommend either butane or propane gas torches or any 'OXY' set for brazing. The quicker you can get the heat into the metal the easier the brazing job is in my experience. Brazing (or brassing) not to be confused with soldering (silver or lead).
