Cromwell Tools supply Kennedy key steel in 3/16" square and 4mm square, which is very very close to 5/32". Looks like you'll have to buy a pack of 5 12" lengths of each size, but it isn't that expensive.
Getting 5/32" anything these days is increasingly difficult.

As Posted on ME. I get 3/16 x 1/4 rectangular from MSC Diredt they sell single lengths.
4mm would be closest and need fitting if you have inperial keyways. For small keyways that you can't get stock keysteel for I use gauge plate which at least gives the correct width and you can get that in 5/32

Thanks everyone and John. Thanks for the offer John but as people have said they use ordinary or gauge plate, then I have plenty of metal in stock. I was just wondering if the key steel was anything special.

Its not that special, its a medium carbon steel still of reasonable workability, and, but only IMHO, might have sharper corners than 'ordinary' BMS. I wouldn't hesitate to use BMS, key steel or gauge plate, whichever comes to hand, for the keys you need, presumably for the Durham and North Yorkshire.
