Superb, and so quick!
Now, what are you planning to do about the gun?

Superb, and so quick! Now, what are you planning to do about the gun? It will be a non functioning dummy. I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere.

An old friend used to tell the story (maybe true) about his uncle who built a model battleship before the last war. He used to run in on a large pond.
The guns were working and fired .22 rounds, but the elevation and direction (I'm sure there is a better gunnery word for that) were moved by motors and some sort of crank or cam. They moved in a sort of random motion and one never knew when they were going to fire!
Only saying...
Chris.

Paintball? Could be messy if someone fired back

Coincidently ive just finished a Whatsapp conversation with an acquaintance of yours and an old friend of mine. Neil, who used to live in Kent on the farm and helped build a certain miniature railway but now resides in the USA.

Gosh, it really is the smallest world sometimes!
Please give him my regards and look forward to his next visit to the farm...
Chris.

I milled the aperture for the gun. I was surprised how well my little Warco turret mill coped well with the 8mm thick cast iron

That is a fabulous model. You must have the patience of a saint with all that repetitious work

I made the commanders cupola. Note my typical standard of technical drawing. Also see the soft jaws used in the 3J. I always use these when I machine loco wheels for quick and accurate set up. You can re use them over again and easily adapt them for strange shaped items if you have a welder.

Finished cupola. note the vision slit in the top. I bet that was annoying in the rain!

It was fun making this hammer. An old paint brush made the sacrifice for the handle. Here fitting the wedge:

Here is the starting handle in place. You can watch an FT being started in real life here:

I have fitted the R/C equipment. I couldnt get it to work at first and didnt have a clue what to do. So I loaded it onto the tank tranporter and took it to my local model shop about 10 miles away. The nice man told me that the factory settings for the speed controllers were not suitable for a tank so he kindly reprogrammed them for me and that was it. Today I had a steam test arranged for one of my locos at the club so I took the FT along for its first outing. I was promptly relieved of it by some younger members and finally got it back a few hours later. Its, strange. It looks really big when its indoors on my bench and tiny when its out on the ground. Im really pleased with it. It runs very well.
