I have an incomplete hand shaper of which manufacturer I do not kwow but it is missing the operating handle I have contacted Tony at Lathes.co who could not help me. What I need to know is how the handle fits there are two bolts one on the slide the second on the main part of the machine the problem is that they are at different heights. Can anyone out there help? I can email pictures ot the machine if anyone wishes to contact me.

A recent copy of the UK Model Engineer magazine (Jan or Feb 2005, as I recall) had a colour phot0 of a hand shaper on the front cover. If you can track it down it mght give you some ideas Also, if later on you want to power it with minimal modification, you could try air over oil.

Hi Uzzy,
I have an Adept hand shaper (doesn't get much use), I wonder if yours is the same? If it is I would be happy to take some pictures of whatever feature you want to see - just let me know.
Cheers,
Roger Mason in cloudy & misty St. Agnes.
