I have recently acquired a pair of 1”1/2 scale unfinished Westinghouse compressors. The castings are by the now defunct and probably not lamented Superpower Detail. I have a set of his drawings but along with them came a second set of drawings.
These appear to be relatively modern at least by the layout they look CAD produced although I might be doing the guy a disservice. Numbered 15 AC 01 to 6. The title block states “An original design by”
F.B. Gittins Rugby England
So I am wondering is it a full set, who was he, why, and when did a guy in England produce drawings for what is probably of more interest to our former colonists. Than most UK modellers who are not exactly broad church when it comes to a choice of nationality to model.

Brian Gittins was a member of Rugby Model Engineering Society and some years ago he was doing a batch of 4 x PRR E6 atlantic loco's on commission for US destinations to run on 7.5" gauge, there was a 5th set of parts that were to be assembles at 7.25" gauge for himself, they were exeedingly fine scale with lost wax just about everything. Working air brake compressors, turbo dynamo's etc. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRR_E6 Brian was also building(but it was on hold while doing the E6's) a fine scale GWR Star, it looked like somebody had shrunk a real GWR Star due to the very fine detail. Brian is no longer listed as an RMES member but he is still listed in the on line BT phone book in Rugby.

Seems like a boss I would like to have. Could you pm me his contact details as I would not mind a chat about the compressors. Jim

Its weierd, cos i was only wondering a couple of weeks ago as to what had happened to Brian as he is no longer an RMES member and IIRC where the business used to be is now Rugby scrap metal's premisis & i had not heard him mentioned at Rainsbrook for a very long time. Did the E-6's get finished and what about the Star?

Rugby scrap metal are robbing barstewards who owe me money and have vanished! Holly met his nephew in the bank the other week and he was quite colourful about him! We moved from there to 19 quite a few years ago now, then about 7 years ago we moved to 38, so we're still on the same road! The boiler for the 7.25" E-6 was delivered not long ago and it is being slowly completed, the Star I think is finished.
If he comes in this week I'll ask!

Ill second that comment about RSM as i took a load in to them about 12 months ago(i think) that filled the back of my 109" landy, i opted for the credit card transaction rather than cheque to save me the hastle of going into the bank to deposit the said cheque. As it happens i did have to visit the bank the following week as i needed a new card and it was Holly who dealt with me, she checked and no payment had been made into any of my accounts. By this time it was too late to go back and have it out with them. I might just as well piled it outside the gate and let the pikeys have it and saved myself some time and effort.
