Hi Folks,
What are your thoughts on the use of roll pins to fix the return cranks of Walchaerts valve gear? What about a sliding fit silver steel pin that is secured with one of the Loctites?
Thanks
Dave

No to the roll pins. I have used them on machinery, but please not on a model.

Just a suggestion, why not fix the return cranks as per the prototype? I opted for the Britannia's later standard LMS 4 stud return crank. With the return crank fitted to the crank pin the correct angle was set following Don Ashton's method. The return crank beside the drawing of the method of fixing the return crank on the early Britannias. Jim

I agree with uuu no roll pins on models, the only pins I use are taper pins in correctly reamed holes.
