Ok. Got to admit that t'other day I'd was using a cut-off disc in the angle grinder and, as it was a short job, I didn't put on the leather apron. Too much hassle for a two minute cut.
Next thing, I thought it was getting a little warm around my waist. Sure enough, polo shirt on fire. Pulled it over my head from the back and stamped it out. Lost a few hairs on my chest and a bit of both eyebrows.
All SWMBO said, when I went into the house for another shirt was, "Why didn't you wear an old shirt ? That was a good one !"

I bet no one has ever silver soldered 2 nipples onto a pipe, the solder runs beautifully round the joints, but you have forgotten to put the nuts on I have , it happens , no shame , just more work .

I had no idea that this would become a confessional! I was congratulated today by one of our most knowledgeable members who told me I had taught him something. 'Never seen that before'. But he went on to say that I had fooled everyone, not one of the nine or so committee of experts had guessed the problem until one said,'let's take it off and get the dirt out' and then a lot of pennies dropped!!! Enjoy some of the other stories, esepecially Ed and is tender!! Cheers David

My "sweet Pea type" loco has one feed clack slightly higher than the other and the inner dome is off centre inside the outer. When I united the firebox end to the barrel I aligned the wrong marks

Why is everything that I touch black? All of our car keys are black ones whilst all of our mobile phones are the same. Now all our phone, sat nav and whatever black wires with different ends!
Now the floors, carpets and what you wills are also- like Henry Ford said ' you can have every color so long as it is Black' So I've never bought a Ford.
Now there are two different Mini plug things. One is a USB 1.1 Mini Plug 5 pin( or so it says on a Maplin bit of plastic bag( which has to be torn to get at the bits) which brings me firmly to my IPad which is white but I have a Tesco black keyboard( Cos I'm old, got shaky fingers and that) which has a Bluetooth connection. Guess who buggered the charger point because I used the wrong connector?
I will probably forget to press 'Post Quick Reply'
And a Merry Christmas to All Our Readers

I was helping a friend run his recently purchased Tug in 7 1/4 for the first time. We agreed we'd put a safety chain on the next day as it "will be alright for now". Well it wasn't alright when suddenly the loco parted company with the driving truck, though I was able to grab it due to the ridiculously hench vacuum hose keeping together. A safety chain was fitted the next day, and I have made a point of having one ever since.

When my Romulus was new I took it to the track and lit up the fire, got in steam but it took a long time when someone said to me,"does this go somewhere". I had forgotten to put the grate in and the fire was on the ash pan. Still get ribbed about it now after 20 odd years.
