very interesting pics, alan!
i havent seen Caerphilly Castle since Science Museum days.
the buffer beams have been repainted in the wrong colour, and the inside cranks have been left in red oxide.
im also surprised that the tender axlebox covers have burnished steel/chrome finish.
some one has also had a go at lots of bits of the Dean Goods cab with red paint that werent painted when i last saw it and not accurate.
nice model of The Great Bear! not sure if the taper on the barrel is correct?
lovely to see Fred Cottam's 2-6-2T on display
cheers, julian

Lots more models than the last time I went round about 3 years ago. Nice to see Gooch's 2-2-2 with the double crank driving axle a la Titfield film, I have never dared to mount the footplate!!! Yes the Locomotives are painted and polished to give a bit of sparkle to the rather stuffed and mounted place. David.

i havent seen Caerphilly Castle since Science Museum days. the buffer beams have been repainted in the wrong colour, and the inside cranks have been left in red oxide. Correction - Caerphilly Castle's buffer beams are the RIGHT colour (China red) - it's the others that are wrong (Signal red). The inside cranks aren't red oxide, they're Venetian red which again is correct. Haven't we been down this road before?

Ed, I was at the NRM about 3 weeks ago and 92220 was there then, so should be still there now!

I thought the same and checked the dates. The thread was 2010. Was thinking of making a trip up to the NRM for the same purpose. That, and I wouldn't mind recreating a picture of my father, brother and I stood in front of 92220, 25 years on from the original. Just need to convince the other two...

I only posted it because I thought a)... The photos were worth looking at --------- and b) Julian looked very convincing in that Dean Goods 0-6-0...

No worries! Thought I would have heard if 92220 had moved!

Hi JULIAN------------- "nice model of The Great Bear! not sure if the taper on the barrel is correct?" ------------ yes, that's quite correct ie}---- A parallel tube at the front and rear with a short cone in between,................................voilà !!}----- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's also the earlier version with braked front bogie, ( later removed)....front steps,( Removed after fouling No1 platform at Paddington )..... no top feed, ( added later)....plaque under nameplate,( Removed later )...... long cab roof, ( Shortened after Firemen kept getting the fireirons jammed up there !!)......
