Wasn't sure but thought no harm in it having a bit of extra under there!
All I have left to do now is add the studs on the flanges which will be tomorrow evenings job, very pleased with the little details on it, will post final photos when finished.

Adam
That is a most incredible piece of work, from the 3D drawings through to machining, it has been very interesting to watch your progress and to see what a wonderful unit you have made.
Please keep posting your projects so we can enjoy your work

So workshop time is over and back to modelling bits for castings it is! Found a little gem of a drawing yesterday so decided to model it up. Just the body for now no internals as I need to get my head around the internals of injectors first! Cheers, Adam

Have you got Derek's book? He's done the internals for it already I think

I have just order DAG Browns book....recommended by Julian...?
No doubt I will spend a long time trying to optimise this as much as possible in a variety of gauges, another little fitting I think will generate a bit of interest.

It's a very good book. I can't remember off the top of my head what size he made it but I think it's for 5"

the GWR 10X injector is described on p.139-144 of DAG Brown's book.
there is an error in the text as Derek says the injector is 12 oz per min, when in fact the drawings show it to be of 26 oz per min delivery rate ie a 'standard medium' injector.
i think i prefer the way Roy Amesbury fitted the cones to his President 5"g loco than the rather complicated arrangement that Derek and Doug Hewson came up with. this would also avoid some screwcutting of non-standard sizes for what are only end caps.
(adam it would be very useful if you had the drawings for the President loco injector to compare with when the Injector book arrives - i can send them to you ).
cheers, julian

Julian,
Glad to here that there is something semi related to what I am hoping to do, I'd be extremely grateful for anything you can send over, the more I have to draw upon the better.

Hoping the book will arrive today, but for now I think I am ready for some cones! All of the cut outs can be adjusted when scaled to suit cones/manufacture/assembly this just gives you a rough layout of the passageways. Now I am working on the BR pedestal and relative fittings, still trying to track down the Gresham and Craven Ejector and Steam Brake valve drawings. Adam

While I wait for the book to arrive on the injectors I have moved onto the next item, the BR Drivers Pedestal, now the currently available option is classed as uniform for all locos but oh no, that's not how it is at all so what did I decide to do - yes each option, I really like a challenge! So here we are as it stands when I finally got my head around sheet metal work in CAD, this shows you how different a Class 4 pedestal is with the 9f version. Both have the blower valve body fitted which I also did the other day. And the 9f partial assembly Adam

Superb detail Adam as always and for the first time I've got a view of the actual shape of the driver's pedestal for the Britannia as opposed to that shown in my drawings.

Jim,
Glad it's helped you get an idea for it, I need to study the drawings a bit closer and possibly some photos if I can get hold of some to show the left hand side and front better as im not sure how I have it is quite right. In time I will make this a laser cut kit that will tab together easily.
