Excellent! I've really enjoyed watching you make this pretty little locomotive. Thanks Roger and every body. Work has prevented me working on the loco and I just had a weekend on the full size loco and will get back onto the little loco this week. Also have some bean size Welsh coal organised that will work better in the little fire box for the next test runs.

I have been busy since May with the extension to the garden railway and tiding up the back yard mess. Lots of full weekend shifts at the Mary Valley Rattler Still have to make a living
Got back to some test steaming of the loco. I am most likely going to redo the regulator and blower valve. They are currently fine for manual control but it appears they require too much travel for the Radio Control servos.
Some other details to sort out. I have done a test steam on the track and it went OK, more operator error to overcome, hence some bench tests to refine my technique. More track tests this weekend.

Then it was ballast and a bout of Covid for us.

Ballasting completed and after two years the previous plantings are all what we hoped for on the Potters Orchid Garden Railway. The new extension plantings have come along these last 4 weeks. I will make a wooden trestle bridge to replace the white piece of ply. Near Years Eve vistor steam up was canned due to us recovering from Covid. The big weekend will be in February instead.

Apart from a superb garden railway that looks like some pretty serious bushland below your back fence.

It is Cabbage Tree Creek on our back yard fence and a native corridor to the sea at Shorncliffe. There is a park on the other side of the creek and a state forest a few hundred meters further on over a road. It is a native corridor. We will not use sprays and nasties. We have lots of insects, lots of stick insects this year. Lots of birds, lizards and snakes but the neighbours mongrels have slaughtered the Water Dragon population and snakes but there is still a few. A pair of Sacred King Fishers are nesting in the termite mound on a tree just at our back fence. This is super cool to watch. We think she is on the eggs at this time.

This morning finds the POR chair of the board doing a bit of line side painting before going off to work. The cactus flowers come out at night and by lunch time are withered and done. The native bees also like these flowers.

I do not know what that all means. Hi Daz, VPNs allow you to mask or spoof what country you're accessing services from, and it sounds like your VPN thinks this site is being provided from a different country to yours. I had a problem with our new Gigabit broadband with one site like that, and it was a similar issue, even though we don't have a VPN. It may be worth contacting the VPN and explaining the issue, because I don't imagine that any Forum services would intend to limit access by Country. Is sounds like a configuration issue with their service.

What a marvellous garden railway Daz. The scenery and shrubbery are just great to see what can be achieved when we try. I have missed your updates as you have not been online lately. Pitty about the dent in the tailgate of the commodore. I was in the smash trade for over 20 years and these things always stick out to me. Regards, Barry

We certainly enjoy the Getting the garden railway to where it is today. The dent was done by some at a super market, I was actually on my way for a weekend at the Rattler.

I still have a pulse, besides regular Mary Valley Rattler driving and firing duties the year included 5 weeks in the UK which included a 3 week pilgrimage for a stint at the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway. Passed my cleaner probation period (I fooled them) and they sent me out on the Garratts. No stops for blowups! I successfully fooled them again as Matt the loco/crew manager told me to come back in 2024 to see about getting passed out as a fireman on the WHR. 5 weeks already booked for 2024. The plan is to go over each year for 3-4 weeks. It is not expensive as the Minffordd hostel is a bargain, besides the airfare ($2600) it can easily sorted to be cheaper than a local holiday. I bought the tweed cap so I would blend in www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-_bICOZm10Meanwhile Llewellyn # 1 slowly progresses with more testing before the pull down to paint. Saturday just past I got 3 hours and 15 mins run time before the ashpan clogged up. I am pretty happy about that. Welsh Grains with a bit of Gunnedah for clag effect. Keeps the mossies away is what I tell the neighbours. It steams like a witch on speed. I am still trying to sort the axle pump out and bypass valve set up. I am going to remake the bypass valve. The next project is a 4 1/2" scale Foden Lorry. I look forward to not channeling George Daniels with that build.

I made a new grate as the other one which was to a published design has obstructions which is not ideal, for ash build up and unable to rake it out while in steam. Old grate

I got 5 hours steaming with the new grate. Water pump working. RC fire door stops the blowing off. Refill the lubricator 3 times while in steam. Plod mostly used Welsh Plutonium, (very boring) however the use of Gunnedah special effects clag uranium lumps clogs it all up after 5 hours.

I have a new CD/radio for the Red Room workshop at the Llewellyn Locomotive Works. A bit of Nick Cave, Mike Oldfield, John Lee Hooker and others got a spin. Crikey, it works.

I am soon to work on the final project for this loco which is to replaced the SLR Models battery lamp with a hard wired LED. Then it will be onto contemplating painting the loco which is for a metal worker is a project loaded with dread. The 4 1/2" Foden lorry is callin me.
