Hi Dave,
Re Jury Service: I was once told that if you want to be excused/dismissed etc, you should wear a suit and have a copy of the Financial Times rolled up under your arm!! I guess its distinctive pink colour can be spotted from a distance..

Getting on with the front house wall in today's sunshine. Lily tackles the postman and gets the Model Engineer and a bank statement. And there on page 489 on Dave Kerry's train the Dodgy Characters make an appearance.
This quiet evening I have been working on a 1 to 1 bevel gearbox having seen the price of them ready made. Also another type of power drive for 2 bogies. A Bobo. Which amuses Lily as it is also smelly fart in Chinese.

The serious stuff goes in one side and out the other in no time. Brilliant! Pete.

Spent the day down at the Bluebell Railway for second day of the Giants of Steam Gala, with visiting locomotives 35028 'Clan Line' and 30925 'Cheltenham'. Wonderful day made all the nicer for the glorious Autumn weather, felt very much like pre-COVID times.
Regards,
Dan

As said above by Dan it was a very decent day weather wise. Paid the club an all too rare visit today and was pleased to see a load of youngsters with parents. I was told they are a regular feature since the club re-opened. Very good to see the new faces I must say.
For my part, I have been getting out and about on my new E-bike. Did a 4 hour stint on Thursday which left me very tired but felt like I had achieved something. Without the motor to help at critical times thee is no way I could contemplate that sort of time in the saddle.
Very little to report on model engineering matters I'm afraid. While the weather is good I'm heading out in the fresh air!
Pete.

The nice weather was a good opportunity to spray the face plate of the signal instrument. The face plate was completed by chain drilling the aperture for the track circuit diagram. Signal instrument by GL5Keith1500, on Flickr Then milled to size and painted Here is the face plate assembled with track circuit panel and slider in place. I am just a bit disappointed the shades of white are so different. Signal instrument by GL5Keith1500, on Flickr

I spent the day helping to lay track at my MES followed by a trip to visit my in-laws for my wife's sisters 21st birthday. Tired but I think I'll sleep well.

A day of Club Running with the E-Beast which went very well. 20 plus visitors mostly with locomotives.
We had a rest and went Back to Schools. Yes Winchester and she ran very well in a slightly bigger size.
A run down of the batteries and the day drew to a close. A ponder about a track cleaning wagon and we drove home.

Hi David, A couple of battery angle grinders with wire brushes....you can skip the Dettol....should work, or maybe a scale size road sweeper brush, motor of your choice......One of the clubs here trialed a leaf blower on a trolley to clear you guessed it leaves, worked quite well.
Cheers Kerrin

Just twiddling my thumbs waiting for the swelling and bruises to go down before i am competent on the crutches
There is so much tele you can watch!
Esp when the only football on is womens 5 a side.. i mean FFS how mush pain can you give a man..And then the female commentator on a rally programme, sounded as exciting as a pineapple enema. When will those in charge realise that female commentator does not have the spontaneous enthusiasm with the inflections reqd to make it sound interesting
I am sure that they watch a recording and then write down a script and read from that

... When will those in charge realise that female commentator does not have the spontaneous enthusiasm with the inflections reqd to make it sound interesting... I think thats a rather unfair generalisation; what you are describing is amateur level presenters rather than female presenters. We had a pretty even mix in GT-Cup (Motors TV I think they were presenting on) and the Tarmac Rally events, you did seem to get a mix of bland and enthusiastic in both genders. Obviously I can't speak for all of them, I can only comment on the ones I've watched.

I accidentally set off the house alarm while working in my workshop. The odd thing was I must have been in there a good 30 mins before it happened. My fault for not deactivating it; I forgot!
Anyway it lead me to test the sensitivity of the PIR which didn’t seem very good until I cleaned the front of it. This may be a coincidence but it seems better now. So, if you have PIR detectors given the a clean every now and then.

Went for a track extension meeting at the Club. Dragging of feet by some of the members. Hold out both hands and fold several fingers for the attendance.
Screaming out from our Federation Rally was the shortness of track and unloading facilities.
Drove over to Bracknell for some recovery therapy. A lovely afternoon watching the trains full of happy passengers in the sunshine.

Made space in the study for a very large 3.5 inch gauge engine that's coming north from our very own midland .

After collecting bits to upgrade my small cnc engraver I’ve finally made a start. Mods will include higher spec motor with dedicated psu, larger table, increase “y” axis, remote pendent control, limit/homing switches.

I think you have mixed up crap boring no enthusiasm of feel for the gs=me PROFESSIONAL presenters with the chaps/chappeses of the stret like you and me who are not paid aobscene anounts as they have to be employed on the Gender/race/ethnicity/diabilties becasue some terminal arsehole at the BBC says they tick all the boxew and not how good they are DAme Maggie on Shy ot night. so enthsiastic and will no doubr get a lot more lasses involved in astronomy Raksa on Time Time. Bettany Hughes Salami Ikram on Egyptology Great presenters There is a chap who is disabled and flies his own plane , fantastic and likes what he is doinf. The balcmk lad ex wheelchair rubgu? is also the same. Make uyou watch the prog bevause he enjoys doing it Claire Balding knows her stuuff the woam who does the curling lass Not a pro but puts it over The ones i cannot stand are the ones who are monotonous in their speech and says 'its a goal with the same effort as asking for a rich tea biscuit to dunk leave me cold
They are the ones i detest
Thelasses on Sat Skysports at the grounds also come across well, but these are the excewptions.Luckily i have a volume switch to turn their whinig voices off ' with th But the so called professional female comentator

4 Years ago I ticked the BBC BOX that said NO MORE LICENCE. Now we watch what we like via the computer. Ancient re runs of Time Team for a laugh. (Often remembering what they dug up first time) Can also re wind IF I have gone to sleep or need the toilet.
Today did more pondering about B.S. 450 which is what I am calling the new creation for 7 1/4" gauge. Them with Mowing Machine experience will see the funny side of this.

Do you realise there are 3 Aspinalls being built by 3 Dave's, You, me and Mr Goyder (Midland). That must say something about the Dave's of this world, either extremely good taste or a masochistic streak! [/div][/quote] Hi davewoo Enough of this Mr Goyder stuff, David does fine, yes carrying on with the old girl. My wife bought me the castings and drawings 25 years ago as a bit of a surprise, but I did (and do) have an O gauge version. I never had the skills to make one. Now I might have gathered a few together to hack away at the metal and am making progress. I have a few castings spare depending where you are in your progress. I have already given a set of wheels to kipford and have a spare cylinder block if needed. I also have the boiler flange plates on long term loan so we are well equipped. Hope to bash copper this winter. As usual, Farmer's book in one hand and the basher in the other!! PM me on were you are! Cheers David www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz_svrTP9LEThis is why I went with the Aspinal!!!! Taken 30 years ago at least!!!
