Goodonya Hayden never a truer word said and spoken like a true citizen of the the Shaky Isles. Welsh nuts is the way forward and stuff the carpet scraps, BBQ briquettes and char. I haven't tried the Welsh stuff yet but I'm told that when burning brightly you can even hear it singing softly if you care to open the fire box door very gently.

Hello Hayden I hear your appeal for help but doubt I hold any influence.
A few of us ran with your fuel at the club to form an opinion. I wrote a positive report in newsletter which is widely circulated and often quoted in EiM or ME.
The Naysayers that I know personally likely didn't take the time the adjust engines or techniques to suit. Bacchus Marsh Char seems to have become the preferred substitute for the old Char.
Many clubs are running on BM Char. My club has brought some although our Stock of the original char is still not exhausted.
In summary, I think your up against Bacchus Marsh for price, bulk supply and ease of use by a variety of locos after years of the original Char.

I agree with Hayden.
If I could still acquire a ton of Lady Windsor Cobbles from Ynysybwl, or a ton of Oakdale Cobbles from Markham (South Wales) I would pay a King's Ransom for such a supply!
Decent steam coal is well worth paying the extra premium for!
Cheers, Julian
