Well a successful run today. Now to arrange new tests/certs and a fair few minor tweeks.

Hydraulic passed today. Pleased that the pressure gauge is OK too. It doesn't sit at zero but over 30 lbs or so it corresponds with the test rig and is spot on at 100lbs WP.

Steam test passed and a very good run today.
I actually found the amount of steam it was producing to be a bit of a challenge to manage. Fire door was open frequently and injectors in use but still blowing off regularly.
Bit more practice needed before I haul passengers.
Was thinking to move it on but after nearly 7 years it is basically sorted out and raring to work.
Next major job will be to fit a water tank in the riding truck and to connect the axle pump.

A while since I posted - not much has happened!
She's in need of some timing adjustment but otherwise all good. There is an older member who is very handy with Hackworth Valve Gear so just need his expertise for an hour or two.
Meanwhile I've started polishing things up.
What's best for getting into small spaces? Is there a powered tool that can polish brass/copper in awkward places?
Thanks in advance,
Pete.

You could try using a Dremel type tool with small felt or polishing mop

I think I bought something along those lines years ago and never used it.
See if I can locate it in the mess of my garage.
Always amazes me to see some engines which have absolutely no muck on them at all and shine all over.
Thanks for reminder.

Well 7 and a bit years later I can report she ran for nearly 4 faultless hours yesterday. Timing is probably as good as it can be with quite a bit of wear in some bushes. It makes loads of steam, 2 reliable injectors so very easy to drive
Pulled some people around, a couple of new drivers had a go and they were firing/injecting on the move by the end of a few laps, that gives me as much pleasure as anything. All in all I was really very pleased.
Plenty of things still to do but nothing urgent.
I need to get the Mona back together now!
