Hi, today in the sunshine, I took the 9F for another run....the cylinder drain discharge pipes which had been secured in place with loctite didn’t fall off, so I now declare that the overhaul is complete ! There were just the two of us present and between us we got a few more photos & videos running round the track, once again in the “wrong” direction. This gives the opportunity to run uphill on a stretch of 1 in 100....not that steep I know, but it’s different to normal. In this video, the engine is running at a cutoff of 30% and just purrs along. In this one, cutoff is lengthened to 60% and you can really feel the power....no wheelslip on the rusty rails! And Finally my mate Paddy having a go. Not sure if I’ll get any more running in this year....going to carry on with the 7F tender for now and I’m told it’s boiler kit should be ready in 2 weeks, so lots of other things to be doing. Cheers for now Don

Congratulations Don, a real gentle giant and a credit to you, well done. Also a really nice home track with a good long run, which one is it.

Mike It’s the Butterley Park Miniature Railway at the Swanwick Junction site of the Midland Railway near Ripley in Derbyshire. Unfortunately the site is closed to visitors until further notice (March 2021 at the earliest). We are allowed on site to carry out grounds maintenance at the Miniature Railway, plus boiler testing, test running etc. with all the usual restrictions. Cheers Don

Yes I know it well, always gets a visit when we go to the Midland Railway Centre. You never know you might get a visit from a Britannia at some time in the future, yea, at some time 😉.

Mike you would be most welcome, but things would obviously have to alter from how they are at the moment....let’s hope so !
