Peter Go rogue! I am sure there would be another society willing to give you a bit of space What about a non-club members stand, or a Model Engineering Clearing House stand - gets my vote! Tim Tim, when and how can we contact you about displaying our models on your stand.

Thanks for posting those Adam. I'm really taken with the workshop scene with the 1500 locomotive, it's one of the best things I've seen at any show, but then I'm biased when it comes to the subject!
Considering the locomotive was built as SPEEDY, the new owner has done a magnificent job in adding a lot of scale features that are missing from the original plans.

I guess we could organise one. Having never done this before ever, perhaps those that have organised a club stand could add their voice and advise how feasable it would be to have a stand at an exhibition. We must also consider that we should not detract from the club stands and choose which exhibition and when etc etc. If there is enough support then it could be done I suppose. I have to add I have no experience in this AT ALL. What do others think, if we were to use the 'Model Engineering Clearing House' name we would need authority from the owner(s). Are there any Admin staff that could advise please? At the moment Tony, it would be me and thee mate!
What do we think??
Tim

The Jinty is a beauty. But the 10.25" "Dock Tank" is a bit elongated in the wheelbase - as if a 2F Dock Tank and a 3F Jinty got a bit too intimate one night in the shed and had a love child! I wonder if it is, in fact, based on a doubled-up Simplex - there are some resemblances. Really sorry I couldn't make it to the show - I commute every day past Ally Pally, but never at the right times.... Malcolm Very observant of you, it is a Doubled up Simplex Philip

I think that a 'Mech' stand is an excellent idea, I would do my best to exhibit/attend if logistics allows. Some of us on here have corresponded via this site for many years and yet how many forum members have we met in person? I can count about 10 for me, perhaps more. I'm sure it is more if I really put my mind to it, but how many have we missed even when attending the same show?. To have our own stand would be great, I guess it depends on cost and members who can support it with them manning the stand, I suspect there may be more than the organises allow, it would certainly solve the problem of 'where to meet'... I had this from the organiser at Doncaster:
'Many thanks for your enquiry about hosting a Club Stand at this years show. In terms of cost, we do not charge Clubs for having a stand with us and we do insure the exhibits for the duration of the show. Also, we have to provide first aid during the public days of the show, i.e. Friday to Sunday. We usually give free entry to those exhibiting on Club stands and we can supply tables (6' x 2.5' trestle tables) but you are welcome to bring your own.'
So free stand and entry to those on the stand!! I assume other exhibitions will be similar.
Should I start a MECH exhibition stand thread to see who is interested?
Tim

Paul Just to clarify my involvement in this, I just took the photographs and passed on my thoughts and impressions. The text comes entirely from the site owners.
