I see you didn't make any effort to hide fact that you're using batteries and it's actually powered by an electric motor ;-) Well done, all the same!

Congratulations John.....those exhaust beats sound just right !!.......Although my own preference is for the later, "modern" style of loco eg}--- The LMS Duchess I do have a soft spot for the sheer design elegance from a long-forgotten life-style that these singles exude, especially when on the move..
Please do say you will run this on the track, if only just the once, so that the camera can capture this quality for all time ??
Best regards,
Alan

I will run it at our track, even if it's just to make the sales video! Trouble is, I have to make an indestructible box for it... John

Great result John! I have throughly enjoyed the build & looking forward to the video, can’t you keep her for a while longer & get a few more track runs in before passing her along? You sure deserve a little more time together.
Cheers Kerrin

Steve, you are, as usual, the voice of common sense... Here's a nice pic of my other (much more complicated) baby! I'm hanging on to it! John DSC00707 by inkaboat, on Flickr

Masking Up the TenderI'm a fan of Frisk film, which for some reason I didn't use the first time I masked up the tender! I used some 'Contact' on that occasion, and the adhesion was too great. Here I've covered the side of the tender, and I cut round the 3D masks with a new Exacto blade. Removing the outer section of the film, gently! Three sides completely masked and waiting to be sprayed dark green - sorry FIAT Verde 301- tomorrow. John

Forgive me for asking something that may have been covered before, what kind of laquer works for the posca pens? Too many times in the past I've laquered something in fine detail only to watch it dissolve what I was trying to protect... If you want to laquer any kind of paint that you don't know what the solvent is, or it is a weak solvent, the safest laquer is a white spirit based laquer, either put on with a brush or with an airbrush; but thinning to spray must be with white spirit. Bob. Edit: Sorry. Forgot to add: Do a test sample before applying to the model. This is very important because SOME paints, and writers, won't accept anything as a protective covering.

Tender ProgressOne side done, waiting for the white lining. l'll do the other sides tomorrow. The suspension links were an easy fix as I was able to squash the end of the 1/8" copper tube and curl it round the spring. They will be painted black! The 'nuts' underneath will be held on with loctite.

Cardboard and toothpicks sufficeAll the small components painted and ready for assembly. It's just too hot to finish the tender black lines. I can't wait: I'm on tenderhooks... John I received the POSCA Pens! NRM Original

What, no 3D printed support pieces for the painting? really you should come into the 21st century.
