I thought I would start this thread as I love tools and am always interested in what others have discovered to be great tool to own and use. Over the last two months I have bought 3 sizes of Knipex pliers with smooth parallel jaws. l first saw these advertised in a plumbing magazine for tightening chrome shower fittings without marking the fitting. Basically they are an adjustable spanner that work like pliers so there is no play when tightening a nut. The jaws always stay parallel and when you release you can reverse and retighten as in a ratchet tool. I read a lot of positive reviews and although expensive bought the 180mm size for good all round use. I have to say for me they are great. They fit any size nut, don’t slip or round the nut. Great for bending things. Removing and fitting pins. A hand held vice that does not mark the metal so great for holding a round bar while undoing a nut. So impressed bought the 300mm as occasionally against my will I have to do plumbing jobs and have just bought the dinky 125mm size. German quality that should last a lifetime. Prices vary but you get what you pay for. I bought mine from Zoro Ltd who were the cheapest with quick delivery by Royal Mail I will post some other items that I have bought that are new and innovative and would invite you to share what tools you have that are special to you in this thread flic.kr/p/2hL4tM8youtu.be/1_RLWKMXrqk

One can modify these pliers to be a very smart and reliable Rivetting Tool. I had the pliers dismantled, drilled and rivet formers made. The rivet formers are fitting into socket holes in the jaws. Precise and reliable. The parallel jaws ensure that the rivets are tilted.
Also my favorite! There is also a variant in half the size. Johannes
