I have seen a few ex WD blowers go for silly money, so I decided to make my own. I found two snail fans in their housings for £10, and I have a couple of old (unused) boat motors, so I've been cobbling a blower together today. The only tricky part was getting the right gap in the housing, but this one will now start a 10 1/2" loco! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbWv_K7RXus&feature=youtu.beAlloy casing cut down to size. Plywood adaptor plate with alloy heat shield. Glued together to await fixing screws and chimney adapter.

Blower CompletedTotal cost - with postage- £7.48! The eagle eyed out there will notice that I used some small drive rivets to secure the casing to the bottom flange. Quick and easy!

I'd like to have a go at rogers bypass design but the 3D printing will have to wait until I get one. Those motors are certainly versatile and good value, I use them all over the place. Nice work, especially as the ex WD blowers are so pricey
