Good morning folks, I am just getting going on building a Terrier 5" gauge using the Martin Evans drawings, i have seen a couple of warnings about them to note. I have a specific question, the steam chest shows a couple of 1/2" x 40 TPI threads on the underside, any idea what they are for? Not having an assemble or part-assembly drawing I am not sure of their purpose. Can anyone help please? Thanks, Phil.

This picture from Julian's Boxhill thread shows a drain cock in the steam chest - so this might be it. But no second hole. Wilf

Many thanks, does anyone know the fixing/ support arrangements for the boiler firebox end? It doesn't seem to have any sliding plates to set the level of the boiler. I understand it is fixed by the smokebox saddle at the front end but the back seems very unclear. I have trawled all the photo's i can find on line to no avail. Help please.

There was some discussion on the forum, about locos that had no restraint at the back, so just the cab preventing the boiler from lifting. But I forget if it was this design, or another.

Our steam chest has two 1/2" by 40 plugs for valve setting in it. While she is in many bits I may get Lily to drill a central hole and tap it for a draincock.

The rear of the Terrier boiler is held down by 5/16” brass angle on the side of the firebox engaging with 3/8” x 5/16” angle on the frames. If you need a description I have the ME notes I can PM you.
