Hi all,
My name is Tom, I'm 30, live in the Netherlands and am brand new here. Since a year I have a house with a modest garage where I learn as I go on my machines. I follow an evening course as lathe operator in non-corona times. Time is somewhat limited due to a fulltime job as mechatronic engineer, and a competing hobby in bike racing. I currently overhaul the Winson 14xx I've build with my father a long time ago. I has run well (video) but since this video in 2013 it has not moved into the finished-and-painted phase, and even collected dust over the last three years or so. Currently I am first working on my driving truck after which I will fit a proper drain-cock operating system on the engine. After that I might do a bunch of other modifications that I've always wanted to do to the winson (splitting the cab-sidetank-coalbunker platework, nicer steam fittings, two new injector water valves, remove some unused remaining water pump fittings, installing a vacuum ejector/valve/limiter and acme thread on the reverser spindle to name a few). I might even paint it finally. I think I saw a part of this forum dedicated to winson/modelworks engines and their oddities, I think I'll have a look there.
Once the 14xx at least runs again, I'm looking forward to build a GWR toad van to go with it. To complete my resume I have a 3.5 inch gauge Tich that needs finishing and a set of 7 1/4 inch Tich castings lying around..
Best regards,
Tom
