I didn't realise that Dewhurst made switches, I thought they were butchers! John One of the trio in Last of the Summer Wine. Compulsive viewing for old farts like me. I resemble Wesley Pegden

I suspect we all do, Norman. Or, in my case, Compo.

Please accept my apologies. Actually, I'm partly blind - macular degeneration. Baron J 'blew up' the diagram in the manual and posted it in HMEM- for me, Maybe with a stripping of separate wires - rather than the ?? 7 wires will give you a clearer picture. On the motor block you should have 4 terminals A and A1 or Az are the main windings whilst the other 2 are the run windings. Of course they could be Z and T I use a Dymo labeller and letter pr number them. With a prepared loom, you have to label each end of each wire. If your Dewhurst hasn't numbers- you can mark the back of the body with masking tape and mark it as to where the numbers are- inside the switch itself. Really when all is said and done- you are only dealing with 4 cales , plus the two from the condenser( if it has one- and the earth. The trouble with mine was that someone had 'bridged the terminals which fooled us all. best Wishes Norman

Norman
Thsanks' for that, but run windings, secondary windings condensers etc mean 5/6th of sod all to me... Honest. I can deal with plug and play and people saying The green wire goes on terminal 10 the white wire goes on terminal Q' and thats it. I know which wire is attached to the terminals in the motor and they are are labelled A A2 Z T what each one does i haven't a clue All i want is someone to say and this is an example
A on motor goes to T3 on switch A2 on motor goes to T6 on switch
Z goes to T7
T goes to T9 ( i know there isn't a T9 on the switch but you get my drift)
It really is that simple

Honestly, if it isn't too far to where you had the motor repaired, just take him the motor and the switch and ask him how its connected up. It would save a lot of worry.

I agree with Richard but if you want to DIY, then I suggest that you get the 'enlarged' circuit suggested earlier.
