Hi,
Until recently I had a hard-cover book and I think the title was just Model Railways and I don't know the author's name. That's pretty unhelpful when googling! I can't remember what was on the dust jacket but the board cover was red.
It had a chapter for each scale and it seemed to have quite a few photos from magazines like Model Railway Constructor back in the 70s/80s. I only realised that when I took a box of those magazines and recognised some of the photos.
Some of the more unusual photos that might strike recognition were the S scale chapter started with a loco chassis being put onto a piece of track, there was a big photo of a US style coach in the G1 section, and I think there was a photo of an N scale train running through a garden. I think there was a track plan of the Craig and Mertonford layout.
I have no idea where this book is gone, but I miss looking through it so would like to find another copy.
Anyone recognise it?

Hi David, try searching google, put in 'published 1980's' you might get lucky.
Good luck
Pete

Thanks guys.
I was briefly intrigued by the first one in Wilf's post, I thought it was the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a second!
I'd like to get Narrow Gauge Adventure, I always wanted to know more about that layout after seeing the picture.
I enjoy reading old model railway books, before the hyper-realism.
