Just to throw fuel on the fire, I mostly make my own BA nuts and bolts now. Its only the countersunk screws that are a pain to make so I try to buy these where possible. Once set up it does not take long to knock out 59 or so - Sunday afternoon job - and I can choose which size hex to use for the best fit!

Here we go again! Anyone like to predict how many pages this time? John Oh dear, we have all let you down, the thread has ground to a halt, so sorry.

I was lucky with fine threads in slightly larger sizes. I bought 1/8 and 5/32 x 80 TPI Whitworth, 3/16, 7/32 and 1/4 x 60 TPI Whitworth taper and bottoming taps, and dies, HSS and ground threads, from Tracy Tools. I think they must have been specially made and never sold as I got them at a reasonable 'job-lot' price, only a bit more expensive than similar size M.E. taps and dies. Unfortunately they have no more. They are ideal for making fittings. Incidentally, Knupfer can supply all their hex brass down to 1mm A/F. I bought some when I first bought M0.6 and M0.8 hex screws from them, and it wasn't expensive.
