Hello, and the next step is the Adam's axle (I think, you say Cartazzi). Instead of two axleboxes on the right and on the left, a curved "die block", which is divided into two parts, is used. Also Igus split bearings MYM are used again. Next, the axle is turned and then the "hornblock", which is also installed as a frame stretcher, is made (I hope the pictures speak a better language than I do) 77.72_0060 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0061 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0062 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0063 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0064 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr Regards Helmut

Hello together, I don't want you to think that I will not continue with the construction. But I had a little accident with the milling machine and now my right thumb is in a plaster cast for a longer time . CAD construction with my left hand is now a bit easier, so I'm trying to draw a few components such as doubling plates, frame stretcher, etc. . I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it. For the assembly I hope for the help of my wife . The operation of the small CNC milling machine is also limited. So I just try to make the best of this circumstance. 77.72_0065 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0066 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0067 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr Regards Helmut

Keep up the great work. I'm following your progress with interest. Having been a Marklin fan my whole life anything like you are building will always be my favourite posts to read about.

Good evening, I continue with the Adam's axle. Now the “bearing housing” (unfortunately, I do not know the correct expression in English) is in progress. It serves as a frame stretcher and at the same time as a “bearing housing”. The axle can be moved sideways when mounted. In the picture the axle with the bearing is moved sideways. I will try it out on the track layout to see if it fits. 77.72_0077 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0078 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr On the right side of the last picture you can see a finished axle of a friend of mine. Hello, now the hornblocks are finished and screwed to the frame, and the “plates" around the hornblocks have been riveted to the frame parts. The tube for the smokebox was turned to length and placed on the assembled (partially screwed or riveted) smokebox saddle for fitting. 77.72_0079 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0080 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0081 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr Regards Helmut

This is a great project you're undertaking! I very much like the way you're producing parts.

Hello, after I was not happy with the wedge-shaped axle bearing guides (I had no space for the adjustable wedge), I changed my mind. By brazing in grey cast iron parts I could now mill a prismatic guide. The adjustable wedges are made as a dummy. Hello, so, now I have finally got to the coupled wheels. First I set up the wheel on the four-jaw independent chuck and then turned off two surfaces on the front. Now I can clamp the wheel perfectly in the lathe chuck with the soft block jaws and machine the back. 77.72_0094 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0095 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0096 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0097 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0098 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0099 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr My thanks go to Peter for his blog "4472 Flying Scotsman" and to Reg for his report "New Peppercorn A2 Blue Peter", among others here in the forum, where the machining of the coupled wheels is very well described and illustrated for me. Hello, after I had problems with the trailing axle on a private railway (minimum radius 8 m), I have now tapered the frame inwards in the trailing axle. Now it is possible to drive on track with radius of about 6.5 m without any problems. Of course, the frame stretchers must now also be redesigned. 77.72_0119 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0120 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr 77.72_0121 by Helmut Jarosch, auf Flickr Regards Helmut
