Hi guys
Can anyone point me in the right direction in finding this colour please, I know that phoenix paints do it but I was hoping to get it from Craftmaster in a bigger tin than the largest from Phoenix at 125ml with its extortionate price tag? The trouble is that I can not see it in Craftmaster's list and searches of their site have proved to be fruitless, to be fair their site is new to me and difficult to navigate, or at least it seems to be for me. The Phoenix colour code is P752
Any help would be most appreciated.
Pete

Hi Pete.
It won't be in the Craftmaster range, or anyone else's, unless they matched the original Precision Paints colour, because the colour is a special and not a standard. There are colours very close to it, but not an exact match. It was matched to the colour on the Stirling Single at York. When I was researching colours, David Jenkinson gave me total access and permission to rub down to get the correct colours, and the NRM then used my findings for getting larger batches of paint made up. Unfortunately I don't have a sample in the odd bits I kept from Precision, so the only way you will get a match is to get a tin of Phoenix gloss and paint out a panel at least 2" square (preferably larger) and get it colour matched. I say 'brush out a panel' because it is almost impossible to match a wet sample perfectly because the colour changes as the paint dries, but a paint that has dried and fully cured can be matched perfectly. Another problem is that typically, computer matched colours are only around 90% accurate. To get a perfect match the colour needs to be matched under perfect daylight, by someone with 20-20 colour vision, and between the hours of 11.00am and 2.00pm, on a clear, but not bright sunny, day, as the colour of daylight changes throughout the day. Artificial light is useless for accurate colour matching too because there is no such thing as an artificial light that has all the colour frequencies of the sunlight.

Hi Bob
Thanks for the heads up, I guess it will be Phoenix then...I don't need much, as you know this colour is for the cab interior and the tender front coal wall...it's the one colour that I haven't got a stock of yet.
