It's not that unusual, and the holiday period probably explains some of it.Like most sites it relies on someone to spend time organising it,usually just for the benefit of the rest of us.
I look every time I switch on.I'm sure it won't be long before Chris updates it.
Happy new year to all,and may your fits fit

Hi All It seems from a message that has appeared on another news board that a new web site has been set up to replace Chris Heapeys at www.homeworkshop.org.uk/. Quite why Chris has stopped updates isnt clear but there appeares to be the possibility of a change of host that might be delaying things. Andy

Hi Everyone,
I've just received a round robin email from Charles Ping, as no doubt some of you will also have done, explaining the details of their new site, which is based on Chriis' site. Charles states that Chris is not responding to emails, etc, which I can confirm, having sent him one myself.
It's all very strange, and I hope Chris is just taking a break, and that there's nothing more to it than that.
Regards to you all.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, Chris Heapy's site is up and running again. However it appears that all is not rosy after reading his notes at the front of the January 2005 page, he's apparently looking for a new server to replace the easynet one.

For those who have not yet noticed, Chris Heapy's site is now operational again, with an explanation for the lack recent updates.

If you could access Chris site before he hasn't yet moved and there are postings dated January. The URL hasn't changed and is easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~chrish/homepage2.htm From there you can follow the links to the adverts as before.

Sorry George, but no change for me.
Your link won't work for me and my original site header doesn't have the No.2 in it.
Could be my Firefox browser, but I've not had any trouble before.

If anyone's still have trouble getting to Chris Heapy's web site go to the home page of this web site, click on 'Useful Links' and then click on 'The Model Engineers Support Page' and that should get you right there.

I must be doing something wrong, when I click on the home logo of this board I don't see any "useful links"
Even if I google Chris Heapys site it still shows 16 December as last entry.
Perhaps I'm in a time warp. ;D
Later on........ Found the useful links now,but still no update.

Must have been something to do with the cache file .
I thank the person that gave me this info. I'd not thought about the refresh button.

As one of the few website I always visit loosing Chris’s site would be a disaster. I have a workshop full of stuff I didn’t know I needed till it was posted on his site. Keep it going man I don’t think there is anything to compare or is as well established as this site.

Hi guys, Just an update. When it looked as if Chris's site had finished Charles Ping and myself took the action of setting a temporary site up to keep the service going. The idea was that when Chris came back, assuming illness or similar we would close out site down. It doesn't make sense to have two sites running. Up to this point we had repeatedly tried to contact Chris to let him know what was happening but had no replies. We passed the word around and opened the site up on the 17th of January. Since that time Chris has come back and updated his site once with a message saying that all is not well but not going into details. He's passed on the running of the sister ads page Astroads to another person and is offering to do the same with the ME ads site. We have tried to contact Chris by phone, emails and thru his advert page as he has asked, we have even tried to contact him thru the owner of the Astroads site but non of these methods have worked. At the moment then we are continuing to running our site, www.homeworkshop.org.uk/until something more permanent is resolved between the two sites. We have kept it simple, no fancy flash banners or Java script, just a simple page to place adverts, no pop ups, or other advertising and no fees. It seems to be working well being run between the two of us, in fact most ads are posted within a few hours by having two moderators. Please pass the link on if you can, the more people advertising, the more popular it will become, remember this is a free service for the Model Engineer. Thank you for your time. John Stevenson
