Yep. Dates already in my diary.
However, looks like buying advance tickets nails me to a pre-declared day which I don't really need, weather, etc.
Just have to do it on the day. 😡😡

Hoping to be there on the Saturday, coming over from Italy possibly with one or two friends. I hope to get Dad out of the house to be there but probably need to find a wheelchair, otherwise he won't last long on his feet.

Sadly I note the IC Engine Builders group are not displaying so it is no longer worth the five hour drive for me.

Going on Sunday with the coach from Fareham SME Chris Mmm!! With model engineers in such short supply, should they be travelling together like that. Then, they're all going to be under one roof - risky

I'll be there with 1501, all day on Thursday and Sunday. If anyone wants to meet up, can I suggest meeting at 1pm at the entrance to where the talks are taking place? I'm tied up there from 12am on both days giving a couple of talks.

If any forum members are there on Saturday, why don't we meet at 1 pm somewhere near Roger's 1501 - so we have something good to look at while we're waiting!

I do hope that someone will do a video (for YouTube?) of Roger’s injector talk.
I hope you all enjoy the exhibition this weekend.

We had a really great day at the Show, even Mrs Froud was surprised at how quickly the day went. I think she was dreading it to be honest.
It was great to finally meet more of our members face to face after all these years of digital interaction. Chris Vine kindly re-introduced me to Cherry Hill, we met last at the exhibition at Brooklands, but I don't think she remembered me. She tells me that she can't use her hands well enough to make things any more, and that she's given her exquisite models away to Museums. What an astonishing legacy to leave, and a truly remarkable person. Google her, and be amazed, if you're not familiar with her work. She hasn't lost her sense of humour, wearing slippers emblazened with huge letters L and R on the top of them. I joked that she'd be getting Idiot Mittens soon.
There was a bit of a cockup with the timing of the talks. I was told it was 12pm, but it turned out that the talks have been moved to 1pm. That means I'll be tied up between 1 and 2pm on Sunday.
The talk seemed to be reasonably well received, but some of the slides were almost unusable until the contrast of the projector was finally sorted out. Thanks to Martyn for figuring out what the problem was. Hopefully it made sense after backtracking to see the offending slides again more clearly. The video clips took an age to start playing so that wasn't great either, and the microphone left a lot to be desired. Anyway, you have to run with what you've got, and hopefully we all got something out of the experience. Sunday should be a little more polished.
I don't think there were any videos being taken of the talk, but I wasn't paying much attention to that. I suppose I could make a YouTube video using the slides, but it's a lot of effort. Chris Vine was telling me how much time and effort he's had to spend to do the presentations that he's done for YouTube. Maybe I will when I've finished the Locomotive.
Strangely enough, people seemed to be more interested in the Turning Frame than the Locomotive. Perhaps I'll just show that next time? Most already have something, but still struggle to flip over a completed Locomotive without fear of it running away and doing some damage. Being able to adjust for the varing centre of gravity and having a worm and wheel arrangement to lock the position provides a simple solution to that. I've got a couple of email addresses of people who would like the drawings of that. I might do an article for the MEW magazine about that.
Anyway, it would be good to see anyone who wants to stop by and say hello on Sunday. I'll be hanging out by the Locomotive for most of the time.

I has a similar experience in Spain, when we were members of the local U3A (a group of ageing, talkative people). ! was invited to do a presentation on canal boating. I told them I had a 30 minute Powerpoint set already prepared, and they seemed delighted with the prospect. When I turned up with my i7 NVIDA laptop I was told (by someone else) that I only had 10 minutes, and when I tried to connect their projector it was incompatible due to its great age! I didn't give the presentation... John
