I have just tried fitting my boiler and attached ashpan back into the frames. 1)The ash pan is too deep 2)the flap at the bottom of the ashpan fouls the brake operating arms and therefore does not open.
any suggestions. maybe a smaller, inner lowerflap is needed.
I have made many locos, but this one is getting silly with detail problems

Hi
Got my boiler back again, so i am now back on the prairie. im going to fit a sliding bottom hatch to my ash pan. I think i will have room for that to work and the grate to work. i really cant see any alternative.
machined up the brake ejector valve last week. lots of fun. Takes ages to work out the orientation of the drawings against the casting.

Ash pans are best done last and in cardboard first. A sharp knife and for curves a 1/4" wood chisel into a piece of board works wonders. Still looking into fabracated cylinders. David.

Hi 1)will get some pics done as soon as i can afford another digi camera. This loco has cost me all my pocket money and more. 2) Ash pan is now done. I cannot see how the drawn versionS, drop down flap, can work with the brake gear getting in its way. All the linkages work and in place.
