Hi Tel Part of the bolt hole below the oiler was drilled slightly larger to let the oil past the bolt but the end was left clearance size. It is probably not all that noticable in the pictures but the heads of the bolt supplied by ST in this kit were much deeper than modern ones although as you can see the big end bolts were a bit on the mean side. Sorry I forgot to follow up on this thread. Thanks for the explanation. Great work Ron and nice pictures - be good to see when you've got the flyball on. Here's a 'little' cross-head guide I snapped at York a week or two back There was about an inch of oil sloshing about in it!

Very nice Paul, the last time I was there the girls would give it a run with it's electric motor if anyone was interested, not long till I go again ;D What I did notice is, we try to make model flywheels that run true, they didn't bother overly much with the real thing Not really looking forward to making the governor, it looks a bit finicky. I didn't get to see this 'beast' in action but I had a good chat with the curator (or as they call them now in the interests of dumbing down, the 'explainer') about the engine by the entrance to the main hall. What a massively impressive machine that is! I was amazed how much my meagre knowledge of ME has taught me though - I was able to ask sensible questions and get interesting answers from someone who could tell I really was interested. Brill!
