Hi Gugger,
Thanks for the pointer to the photo's most useful.
I was unaware that Peter offered the cylinders in gunmetal, when I brought mine he only mentioned the iron ones. (Post note: I have just spoken to Peter Southworth he has moved over to supplying gunmetal cylinders dues to problems getting the iron ones cast)
Has anyone out there made the four cylinder version?

The Corliss engine normally built in the USA are equipped with the Reynolds-Allis control gear. Then again most engines are made up from castings supplied by Coles. In 1994/95 the building of a Coles machine was serialised in Live Steam. The drawings from Peter Southworth are for a Corliss with Musgrave Trip Gear which differs considerable from the Reynolds gear.

Hello Walter, castings arrived this morning, ckecked them out and looked ok. O boyso! this is going to be one big engine, it might be a day or two or three or...before this is finished. The castings are well made with very little finishing as regards fettling. The flywheel should be an interesting machining experience ;D I will definitely be keeping in touch, All the best for now, John.
