Hi all G1 enthusiasts , although this seems to be the least used forum , having always wanted a live steam garden railway and being limited for space I thought G1 would be ideal . I really wanted a "spinner" but after many months of searching could obtain neither drawings or suitable photos , so I chose LBSC's DOT to make a quick start , Having obtained the drawings and some castings from the limited amount available I decided I would " tool up " all the parts so that any one who was interested could also build from readily available parts. As I have access to a lost wax foundry the obvious route was to cast as much as possible , using silicon brass . If anyone is interested I will post more as work progresses. Abby.

Hello Abby. There don't seem to be much G1'ers on this forum, and I'm afraid I'm not exactly an active one either. But I spend most of this year making plans instead of building. That will change next year! (I hope...) What do you mean by a "spinner"? If you are looking for any engine, then there are plans available. Look here: www.nmia.com/~vrbass/steam/drawings.htmAnd of course we are interested in seeing your work. What else is this site for?

There a few of us around in the woodwork. I still have three of my G1 loco's, some where in the cupboard.
Lost Wax: A dentist friend of mine has a sideline of using his "teeth casting" facilities for making wonderful fittings for his G1 loco's out of the spare gold he has left over. His argument is that he needs to always make sure he is not short of material for the teeth, so if there is anything left over he may as well us it. The positive side is that he does not have to polish any of those fittings!

Hi Abby
If by "spinner" you mean a Midland Spinner like 673, then there are most definitely gauge 1 drawings available. They were drawn by Raymond Lewis and are on A3 size paper. Very detailed and, as a bonus, lasercut steel frame and bogie parts are available from Malcolm High of modelengineerslaser.
A friend of mine has started and is making very good progress. You may see some photos in the G1MRA N/L soon if he decides to go public.
Regards
Martin F. Slater
