August 25th sees the 20th anniversary of the founding of the North Cornwall Model Engineers Society. We are a small Society with about 23 members mainly from the North Cornwall and West Devon areas. Like many clubs/societies we would like to see more new members - young or not so young - to give our Society a bit of a boost, and to see more locomotives in steam. Our site is very small, in a field at the back of a farmer's house. Quite small, but safe and secure, with a continuous 3.5 and 5 inch gauge steel track. We don't run for the public, but members are encouraged to run at any time they feel like a steam-up! Meetings are held on the first Tuesday in the month from October to March, and first and third Tuesdays during the summer. Steam-up Sundays are usually held one Sunday a month in the Summer. Any of you reading this notice that live in the Devon or Cornwall area, or know of other Modelers who may have moved and not have a local club, then please leave me a message and I'll get back to you. Visitors are always most welcome, but I can't guarantee there'll be anyone running at the time of your visit. Bring your own loco if you like, LOL Thanks for reading. Geoff.

Dear North Cornwall, We may venture this far later this summer, My mum lives in East Cornwall and I have a Cornish uncle so no passport is needed. May be closer than the Tiverton track and have better beaches. Make a change to walks on Dartmoor. David Scott.

Hi David, One thing's for sure, the Bude area certainly has far nicer beaches than Tiverton, LOL ;D Just let me know if/when you are coming this way, and we'll make arrangements with the lectric company to keep the power on for your visit!! David, it's not a big/large/long track, but nice if 3 or so engines are there at the time, Mine probably won't be, unless I get on with them, haha. Geoff (In rainy Cornwall)

Hi Brian (Merlin),
I don't know of any 7 1/4 gauge club tracks in Cornwall. You could phone the secretary of Perranporth Society:
Jim Penaluna (secretary): 01637 830490
If this number is no longer obtainable, leave me a PM here, with your phone number, and I will get back to you. I visited Perranporth last summer, and I'm almost certain that they do NOT have a 7 1/4" track. Jim may know of a suitable site for your loco.
I have also copied this to you in a PM here.
Regards
Geoff

Geoff,
I have just moved to North Devon from Andover, and I am looking for a suitable club.
John Walker of the Southern Fed gave me a contact name of Mr Reed, and I have left several messsages, but have had no reply. I see from the Devon Community website that you are the contact person, but there are no contact details listed. Can you contact me on spapworthXX@XXhotmail.com, or 01805XX603198 to discuss things? ---------------------------- Edited to prevent email or phone No being recognised by automatic trackers etc.
Obviously, us humans remove the XXX's Alan Stepney Thanks....Steve

Hi Steve,
Sorry I never saw you earlier. I've just spoken to Ron, who lives not a million miles from you - in Port Isaac! I will leave you my details in your Personal Message file on this site.

Hello mj,
Yes, secret indeed, haha. I've noticed two websites that have somehow removed our Society information, and have asked them to reinstate it. As for members, Ron (mlr) has joined us, but I've had no news from Steve since we first spoke (where are you Steve?). Another member here has left me several messages to which I have replies, leaving both my telephone number and email address. I'm still waiting for the 'phone to ring!!
As we are only a small Society, and based on private ground, we do not advertise our exact whereabouts for fear of uninvited intrusion, haha. However, I do 'advertise' our Society in the Model Press, and there's no reason why people shouldn't be able to contact me. It's rather unfortunate too, that even one of our local Cornish clubs tells people they've never heard of us, especially when we attend the same model exhibitions!! And, of course, we are known by, and registered with, the Southern Federation, although they recently gave a prospective member details of our last Secretary from about 4 years ago! So, it's not all my fault really, LOL

Hello mj,
Yes, I just thought it a bit funny that we couldn't be found! And 'LOL' is short for Laughing (or laughs) out Loud, or 'haha' if you like.
And the Devon Library Service just emailed to say they themselves have a problem with their site, and that's why my contact details were not available!

Something strange going on in this Forum. I've had 2 postings here from member 'mj', but now they've disappeared! (Hence the above references to 'mj'). I have 5 personal messages from member 'mj', but the last one denies that I have sent my telephone number and email detains. Strange that my copies of my PM's show I did!
Have we got a troll here?

Hi there I answered his post in General about Avatar and he replied via PM. I think he may have set himself as 'invisible' as he doesn't appear in the user list below as having ever been on line. Not quite sure whether he isn't very computer literate or there's another explanation? Cheers Brian quite visible and more than a little intrigued!

Hi Brian,
Haha! Well, well. I've had some conversations with mj, and today he/she has denied ever speaking to me previously. I notice now that member mj has been removed! And, very strange, in my Personal Messages, mj is now Guest jr! So, looks like someone has been playing silly wotsits on this site.
Geoff, in the dark on darkest Bodmin Moor!
