Hi Mott
Good to hear from you again. I have not received anything as of yet, including a date for the start of production. Where did you hear that they have dispatched the first kit? Have you thought any more about ordering a Duchess?
Cheers Jason

Hi Jason,
I see that the Modelworks website has been updated today (under 'latest news') to say that delivery of kit 1 is expected during October

Hi John
Yes I had noticed the update on ModelWorks Web site but I have not received anything from ModelWorks to confirm this.
Any more news on your boiler?
Jason

Hi Jason,
The last news I heard about the Britannia boilers was when I enquired on 21 September and they said that the first batch of 10 would be ready in October and the next 16 in November. I assume that means the end of each month, so I'll check again in the next week or so. I'm not sure whether I'll get one from the first batch - I was fairly well down the list in terms of placing my original order, although I was the first to test on air at Daventry.
Regards, John

John Speaking from a sales background myself, I would have you at the top of the list as I think anybody thinking of purchasing a ModelWorks kit would have visited your site first as I did myself and would judge their service from your comments as an existing customer. Jason

I thought that builders of the ModelWorks Duchess, and indeed devotees of these splendid locos, might like to see a photo I took at the recent Warley Model Railway show at the NEC. The loco is 10-1/4" gauge so it was quite impressive. It has been based on the last two of the 'Coronation' class (46256/7) which had detailed modifications to the pony truck, the rear end frames and the cabsides;the work of H.G.Ivatt. The model carries the number 46258 and is named "City of Westminster"

The 10 1/4" Duchess was built by Dave Wiseman, (a fireman on the Mid Hants) and is one of three he has built (one being a Standard 4, and I forget the other one...) I recollect that he built this in about two years, and it ran from some years at Chiswick, until the demise of that railway.
Moving these locos about is actually quite straightforward - a car-transporter type trailer and a decent sized tow car (this loco weighs over a tonne) - or indeed a friend with the above!
