Hello Tel and Andy sorry i'm just replying now but have been working away. You mentioned that you now have the feed valves on the barrel now why is this better and do you just blank off the two old ones at the rear. one for the pump, one for the hand pump if i add an injector fitted will it be possible to put the feed in at the top with may-be an extra feed on the upper water gauge bush if you understand what i mean Nobby

Hi Nobby I have put a top feed on the front of my barrell to take the feeds from the handpump and axle pump and a single bush on the back of the boiler for an injector.

Hi Nobby I have put a top feed on the front of my barrell to take the feeds from the handpump and axle pump and a single bush on the back of the boiler for an injector. The theory goes along the lines of why put the coldest feed water into the hottest part of the boiler, hence the pumps on the front and the injector on the back. I made my own boiler so it was easy to put the bushes were I wanted them, if you buy a boiler then you will need to discuss this with the maker. Unwanted/unused bushes can just be blanked of with a suitably theaded plug. You can siamese two feeds into one bush but you will still need a clack for each feed. I made a few other changes to my boiler by discarding the girder stays and using rod stays and making the firebox outer from a seperate piece of copper. if you want more details P.M. me. cheers Andy
