Ah yes, the sizzling chip that goes blue AFTER it lands...
I used to do a lot of Pistol shooting, and the more experienced female shots used to wear high or polo neck tops to the range for that very same reason

Fantastic for pinging searing hot chips of metal where you least want them. Not to be operated in the summer due to the possiblilty of wearing shorts. Ensure your workshop is isolated or sound proofed to preclude neighbours asking what the whumping noise is. All I can say, DD, is that you are driving the shaper WAY too hard - I use my 10" Douglas in shorts and light shoes (and the obligatory blue singlet) all the time. Choosing where you stand also helps

Oh for heavens sakes Laurie_b, you've just given Noddy an organism, pictures of proper ironwork, is it an April the 1st prank or have you really refurbed a Centec. Best regards Ian. Oh gawd!Wouldn't want to get Noddy over excited now would we? ;D Thanks for the comments. It really is a very nice machine to use,and no, it wasn't an April Fools joke! I was told the machine had last been used in a factory in Norwich, and had been used for cutting the slots in the heads of screws used in McLaren F1 racing cars.Hardly an onerous task!

If it's been used to help make Big Macs I hope you washed it down with a strong disinfectant and crossed yourself three times Laurie? It can now have a more normal life doing engineering things rather than fantasy work. ;D Ian.

neighbours asking what the whumping noise is. It's the "BLACKSMITH'S INVENTION"! Took a while for the penny to drop - over 'ere that is known as the 'Engineer's Invention', and nothing miniature about it, from wot I hear.

I assume, Sir Clip, that we are talking about the same invention - the one with the 'GREAT BIG WHEEL'
