Hi. I have just obtained a 7x10 mini lathe. It is the usual re-badged Sieg C2. I also purchased a QCTP, but it was of such poor quality that I returned it and got my money back, but I am now looking for another one. Does anyone know of a UK supplier of a QCTP that will fit a 7x10? I have got some info from the Little Machine Shop in the States who produce one, which looks good. Has anyone used it?
There is also the problem of the tailstock clamping bolt. Again LMS have a tailstock cam lock fixing kit. Has anyone used it?

Thanks Bryan. I had not seen that particular page of Warco's web site before. I will e-mail them to see what they can recommend

Russell, I have looked over the drawings as published on the net www.metalwebnews.com/howto/toolpost/toolpost.html and feel that there is something missing from the drawings for the wedges. Am I right in thinking that there should be a dovetail slot at the 1" dia end of both wedges to pull up against the tool holder dovetail? I have tried emailing John the designer but it bounced. John

Don't know when you sent the e-mail Modeng, but if you check my posting,John S the designer is on the Arc euro stand all weekend at the big H so will be a bit tied up. you could try contacting him after Tuesday 13th via Arc's site. He were a bit busy when I spoke to him. Regards Ian.

Thanks Ian, I'll do that.
It was yesterday that I tried to email but the message bounced so I assume that the email address is no longer active.

Hi John,
Yes there are dovetail slots in the wedges. These are cut when cutting the dovetails in the toolblock. See the description of how this is done in John S's paragraph following the link to Figure 4.
By the way, make twice as many toolholders as you think you will need!
Russell.

Thanks Russell,
That is what I must have missed when reading through. I usually look at the pictures!
John
PS All is now clear, thanks.

Hi Guys this is my first posting, I have had problems in the past with tool posts and I decided to purchase a "Myford" Although more expensive the quality is there ! When tightening it up on the cross slide of ML 7 I have to support it with a 90 degree square to keep it at right angles to the cross slide

A q.c.t.p. was the first thing I made for my lathe back in 1977, the body being square and held in place with just a bolt. Then I saw a V shaped one with two levers in a friends workshop. the front lever fixed it to the topslide while the one at the back with a cam thrust the lock into the tool holder. I have all the bits ready but now need some time to machine it.
A V shape gives you much more clearance and room when close to the chuck.
No, my next job will be the toolpost, I am fed up with having to find the spanner all the time.
David.
