I am new to model engineering and I need some education from the more senior members of this bulletin board site.
I am building a 4” scale TE. During construction, I have acquired two different types of lubricators. One type of lubricator has a small removable copper tube going down the centre of the device. The height of this tube approximates the internal height of the reservoir. The clearance hole in the bottom of the reservior for the tube is quite large. Larger than a sliding fit. The other type of lubricator has a machined indentation in the bottom of the lubricator for a tube but did not come with one.
Several questions come to mind:
1) Should all the lubricators have a tube in them? 2) What is contained in the tube? 3) Are there any references or books I can be directed towards that would enlighten me further?
Thanks for broadening my horizons!
