You can do without powerfeed and still get by but twiddling them handles gets mighty boring especially if you’re doing a lot of milling. I fitted a X axis “Align” feed to mine as well as the Y and its been a boon, but then I’m a lazy get

Terry,
The Algine power feed is an aftermarket fitting for Bridgeport’s. It’s pretty straight forward to fit and all the parts you need come in the box. Basically you fit a small extension the operating shaft of whatever axis you’re powering. The most difficult seems to be the Z axis to lift the knee up and down but the X or y are a dodle.
You also have to remove the locking plate or boss which the handle reacts against when you turn it. But as I say all the bits are in the box. I have a photocopy of the instructions you can have if you send me a private message with your address on it I will send it off.

There is no need to rob any machine. I fit up a very simple system for my Warco using an old car two speed wiper motor, a couple of suitable sprockets and a bit of chain. A little bit of drilling and bracket making and a reversing switch for the current to the motor and you have something to hang on in place of one of the winding handles. (Of course a 12v battery helps too.) The motor etc. is bolted to the milling table and the battery sits on the floor.
