The flange radii are OK, flap over! I looked in the ME Handbook and the flange should be 0.050" for a 3.5", which it is. The rim radius should be 0.030", again OK. Thanks again Baggo. JB

Simplyloco's Castellated Nuts. Complex - I found this from the past. It might give you some ideas, but it is for 3 1/2" not 5" Anyone explain how to link threads? or do I mean 'Posts'. LBSC specifies an ordinary 1/4"A/F nut and a washer, so this slightly more elegant approach would seem to be in the spirit of the thing!
PB1. 0.090" thick nut to go on 3/32" stud. 0.30dia x 0.025 thick 'built in' washer. 0.25 A/F nut. 0.040 slots. RegardsJB Another View Slotting the nut.

Let me say at the outset that the standard of work shown on this thread is first class!
Just to be pedantic though, the nut shown in the previous post is actually a "slotted nut"; a "castellated nut" or "castle nut" is slightly thicker and the part of the nut where the slots are cut is relieved back to remove the flats and is therefore circular. It looks like a castle's turret from the side.
Regards,
John.

Technically John is wright but a slotted nut is sufficient for this application as there is very little force or tension on the nut .

Im now going to be picky. The full size nuts have 8 slots rather than 6 although the nut has 6 flats.
