On behalf of a friend, can anyone advise what a part built set of frames (picture can be available on request) for a 7 1/4" standard 4 tank. These are well advanced; erected with horn blocks, stretchers, spring pockets buffer beams and buffers. There is also the best part of the rear bogie assembled complete with axleboxes. Also included would be a set of cast iron cylinder blocks, as far as I can tell these are unmachined. The work looks fairly good and the whole assembly has been gloss painted which has provided good protection.
I am not sure of the origins of the model, the guy who originally built them was also building a 5" standard tank so it may just be a 'scale up' job? My friend bought up the output of this model engineer who gave up the hobby. This model has little chance of being finished so for a reality check and possible source of funds for the completion of his other projects; 5" Y4, 5" Sweet Pea and the 5" standard 4 tank is anyone intersted in making an offer? Failing that how about an educated valuation? He is regularly over from Ireland in his van and could probably deliver the frames to most parts of the UK so don't be put off by that. I have also suggested ebaY but he would rather seek your council first.
