Model Engineer Magazine....

Good afternoon all.

I've just been pointed to this board by a freind, in the hope that somebody might be able to help. I'm trying to get hold of a couple of back issues of Model Engineer magazine from earlier this year. Specifically, there was a 5 part article regarding the construction of a model VW engine in them (Starting with issue 4240, then 4242, 4244, 4246 and 4248). I;ve already got issues 4240 and 4242, but I would like to get hold of the remaining three.

I've been told by the various subcription places/contacts I can find that no back issues are available for these issues, so I would like to ask a few things.

Firstly, does anyone have a current contact/phone number for the Model Engineer back issue department? All the ones I have tried don't seem to work? I'm not sure hwo publishes this magazine now, as I have been told it has changed hands recently?

Secondly, does anyone have a copy of these issues, who would be willing to photocopy the articles for me? I'll gladly pay for them, either with money, Beer or CAD work (I'm a design engineer by trade, working with Solidworks 3D modelling). Iwould even consider buying the whole magazine if that is available!

The reason I am after this article, is so that I can model the Engine in 3D, and use it to demonstrate the CAD/CAM software that I use at work, in conjunction with the rapid prototyping machine (Stereo lithography).

I should have the necessary issues that I can copy for you. Will have to look them out though as I have just fitted bookcases for my magazines and they are all stored elsewhere at present. Could look for them this weekend if you wish. Just reply and I'll find my glasses to browse through them over the next couple of days.

Model Engineer is one of the Highbury House Magazines that did not change hands recently. The back issues and subscriptions number given in the latest magazine is 0870 8378600.

If you could copy those articles for me, that would be brilliant! I'm more than willing to pay for the copying/postage etc! I'm after the VW engine article that appeared in the issues numbered 4244, 4246 and 4248. They should be in volume 194 which is from earlier this year, round about March-June time.

George: Thanks for the number. I've tried about 5 or 6 different phone numbers to try and get hold of back issues now, and all I've had is that they are either not available, or that department doesn't do back issues. I'll give that number a try first thing Monday morning though. Thanks!

I'm sorry but have failed to locate two of the three issues you wanted - so far. Just don't know where they have walked off to! Will continue to look but perhaps if you want the articles quickly then steammadman may help you out somewhat quicker than I can. At least someone appears to be organised!

Hi Brian (Ansty).

Not to worry about that. I was forever losing copies of the various RC magazines i used to subscribe to. I ended up with storing them in piles on bookshelves, and remembering to put them back when I had finished with them. it took me about three weeks to find all the issues from about the house/garage/workshop!
