I remember using a shaper during my apprenticeship at the ITC in Crawley, it was great. You could dance to Egyptian Reggae to the machine's ryhtymn when it was cutting! Ooops showing my age there then, this was in 1977 not during the Egyptian Empire though. The best bit was you could scuffle your feet through the swarf on the floor like a genuine sand dance!!! (The tablets are working a lot better these days!)
Anyway, I thought we were going to have a poll on whether we had a poll? What happened to democracy?
Cheers
Brian

Well, Mr Viffer,
It was a very close thing between No 2 and No 5, but I think having waited many years for one, my vertical miller won by a short head.
Well done on yet another superb poll topic ;D

If you want that poll you run it. Terry may go ape(r) but hey is that a pro or a con?

Bah! No one reminded me I had to press the big red button to vote, haha.
They reduce the power supply in Cornwall after 9 pm, so I may not have noticed it in the gloom ;D

Seasoned Member......is this a statement of status or a statement of a "medical" condition. There are one or two very cheeky Junior members in this Forum. You should respect your elders, even those who think the GWR was the best thing since, or even before, sliced bread.

My vote, the mill, I don’t know if it’s where I am in my current project but I use the mill far more than the lathe.

Why does it have to be [after lathe], 'fridge with beer' comes way before it. Ron

Went for the mill after all, but I think the drilling machine gets more use at the moment.

I'm not too sure if there is such a mechanical device, but I could sometimes do with a piece of equiptment that recognises when I am just about to make an ...ORRIBLE ORLICKS... I think that it may be called a BRAIN... No really given the choice. the money, and lots more space it would be a Grinder, mainly for the quality of finish.

Yes gentlemen, but remember, the L N E R got there faster ! ! ! ! ! and of coarse we had a lot farther to go,that's why we invented the water troughs, then,of coarse we had those beautiful BLUE STREAKS THAT WENT OVER 126 mph, that's more than a lot of these atmosphere poluting things do today, and they did'nt break down as often. Well guys that's my 10 pennorth, shall we have a ballot on the pros and cons of the steam age now?, who's the the first to vote? .
Now you know where my nickname comes from! ! !
