Hi All, New member here saying hello. Currently working on a Clarkson 2X2 vertical. Castings acquired through a lucky bid on ebay. Have also been attempting to purchase M.E Beam castings through Brunell Model Engineering and although Graham seemed quite happy to take my payment he is less forthcoming with a delivery date or any other communications. Was wondering what other members experience is with this vendor?
Regards, Andy

I know he's had problems in the past, these are supposed to be getting sorted out but it looks like there are still some issues with responding to communication. He does seem to respond to posts on Traction Talks models section www.tractiontalkforum.com/showthread.php?t=6579Jason

Thanks Jason. Guess I can kiss that $500 goodbye. For some reason shaky vendors seem to be a feature of the model engineering community. At least here in the USA we have had our share of problematic company's. I suppose anyone can commission an impressive web site whether or not they really have any products to sell.

I've not heard of any problems with Brunel apart from slow responses to enquiries. Unless anyone knows otherwise, I would assume that it is poor communication, for whatever reasons, rather than anything more serious.

As Alan says Brunell are just poor at responding to communications. I don't think Graham keeps many castings in stock so its a case of when an order comes in then he will get the foundry to cast them so there is some time delay. I'm sure your money is safe and you will get the parts in time.
Even so it would be nice just to get an e-mail to say its likely to be x number of weeks.

Hello just to add my tuppennys worth, graham is as stated rather slow at best with his correspondance, and it can be a big pain but he is well respected, honest and in my experience a very nice man to deal with. i would say your money is safe. although if its not in stock it may take a while unfortunatly as already stated, regards ben

Funny or I guess maybe not, This subject has come up, I've had a set of castings, gears, and drawings for the M.E. Beam Engine on order with Graham since Nov. 17th of last year. Have sent numerous e-mails and made phone calls, In fact I tried to contact Graham this morning but no answer. I paid by credit card so hopefully have some protection. The next time I'm able to contact him by phone he will have exactly 24 hrs. to get my order off to me with a tracking no. Or he will be sending me a full refund. If no refund then I'll assume it's mail fraud and contact the proper people in the U.K.

It looks as if Mr Brunell has just joined this forum, those traction talk users amongst us will recognise his user name.

Hi All, Should say that I did hear from Graham after my last post. He informed me that he had been out of town and assured me that the drawings and castings would out shortly. He also mentioned that alot of the bad press he has received is becau of the previous owner. I suppose time will tell. If he is a member of this forum perhaps he has a comment on Miner's experince. well well nice to hear all your comments and to miner hello peter we spoke on tuesday pm if you remember and you were going to ring back you didnt and I could not get through to you in your own words you are working in the mining region of canada not always easy to contact like your emails to which we have sent over a dozen my last was two weeks ago hence the phone call. Now read this your castings have arrived back with us from Canada as not collected also as with other items sent to Canada since 911 the customs open and inspect plus if a return address is not shown the parcel we be returned. So back to your order it has cost us to have the parcel returned plus me collecting from Nottingham 40 plus miles away that is what I was going to tell you reference my email two weeks ago so we will resend your casting after we have received a email from you to confirm your address in Canada ,at no extra cost and will be sent by global security to track the progress I dont think we can be any fairer than that believe me what more can can I say we will send them one more time after conformation from you Peter in Canada

Graham, This is not the place to conduct business matters but as you responded here then I will too. This order was placed on Nov. 17th last year, Yes you have sent e-mails saying you wanted my phone no. to "explain" my order status. I sent you my phone no. You have my e-mail address, Yes I do work in the mineing industy and am not home for 16 day's out of 28. If you phoned and I was not home at any time since Nov. 17th of last year then I also have a answering machine. A simple message to call you would have got a response from me as soon as possible. An e-mail explaining the problem would have worked as well.
When the package was returned what was the reason for it not being delivered?, Your explaination for why I do not have my castings on this forum is the first I have heard of it. You have had my money since the order date, Yet YOU did not contact me at any time or by any means till I phoned you 2 months ago about the status of my order and you said you would check on it and advise me. So what have I got so far, I get to learn my order status here! IF I HAD NOT PHONED YOU OVER 2 MONTHS AGO ABOUT THIS ORDER, THEN WHAT,HOW OR WHEN DID YOU INTEND TO RESOLVE THIS?
As I said this is not the place for this matter, But if it were not for a private message from a member of this forum advising me of some problems you have had/or having with your business then I would not be as patient as I have been.
If you have paid anything over and above the cost's of this order then advise me of the amount and please send me a exact cost by e-mail before monday morning and I will send you a bank draft by expidited mail. If this will not fit in with your "timetable" then advise me anyway, And I'll get a check off to you when I return from work on May 28th of this year.
Pete

Hello Peter nice to get a responce I am not going to explain anymore the bottom line is we will send your castings as I said before so as to complete the contract. But just to add our problems was an arson attack that destroyed the foundry and 50% of our stationary engine patterns that was close to 12 months ago and behind us so thanks to a few people that helped us in more ways than I can say

Well, I suppose its time to update this thread with the positive news that I received a partial shipment of Beam castings from Graham at Brunel Models today. Order date was around April 15 and today is the 26th. Call it 5 weeks from date of payment. Unfortunately the flywheel casting was not included. Graham said he was not happy with the quality. I have also never received the drawings and construction notes so I can't really get started. Have emailed graham twice or three times now to ask when i might receive these items and as usual there is no response. Rather frustrating....
